Dublin has to be one of the places to party, and the choice of pubs, bars, restaurants and other live spots is legendary. It can be as hectic as you please, or you can sit and pass the time of day. And what better place to do just that than Davy Byrnes, just off Grafton St., a famous bar for a pint of guiness and a plate of oysters - in wonderful art-deco surroundings. Cafe en Seine, at 40 Dawson St., is a much more recent favourite - a big bar with terrific atmosphere. You'll find traditional Irish music at (among lots of other places!) the Bridge Bar, in Westmoreland St., and at the Temple Bar in the Temple Bar area. Dublin has always been a cosmopolitan city, and excellent value for a filling
lunch can be found at the Japanese restaurant Yamorori, 71 South Georges
St. Tel:01 475 5001. For Italian food try Trastevere in Temple Bar Square.
Tel: 01 670 8343. If you're dining out, Les Freres Jacques, at 74 Dame St. Tel: 01 679 4555,
offers traditional French cooking with a certain Irish charm. In the same Temple Bar
area is Bruno's, with Mediterranean style fare in this friendly and relaxed bistro.
30 Essex East, Tel: 01 670 6767. To telephone Dublin from abroad, dial your international access code, then 353, and miss out the first zero of the number. If you are visiting Dublin, why not take a look at Belfast as well - it's a great city with some of the best restaurants and bars to be found. There is an excellent train service from Dublin - just 2 hours. Visit our Belfast page to see what's on! |
